Spring Showers Have Brought May Flowers… and a Patio Reset

Whew! It took me a minute to get here. I’ve always loved the idea of having a patio that feels cozy, so when I saw this house, I knew this could work.

Fast-forward seven years, past ridiculous estimates and lots of tears, as we tried to figure out how we were going to rehab this space, and we finally made it come to life.

But let me back up, this is just about me finally getting this piece of garden together 🤣

My Patio Is Officially Open for the Season

The first step was simple: clean up. We had already been working toward this point since last summer.

Clearing away leftover debris, freshening up the mulch, and giving the whole space a “clean slate” feeling made a bigger difference than I expected. It’s amazing how even small outdoor updates can instantly make your home feel more put-together.

Now to the flowers we go.

Easy Plants Only

Now let me be clear: I am not a gardener.

I’m not out here propagating plants, testing soil levels, or doing anything remotely advanced. I wanted plants that were cute, low-maintenance, and basically impossible to mess up.

So when it came time to pick what to plant, I went for something simple and again, not easy to mess up lol.

What I’m Planting This Spring

To kick off the season, I picked up two plants that are basically made for patio life:

White Vinca

These little flowers are so pretty and simple, and I love how clean the white petals look with that bright pink center. They’re the perfect pop of color without being overwhelming.

Plus, they give that “I know what I’m doing” vibe… even if I absolutely do not.

Sweet Potato Vine

This plant might be one of my favorites for outdoor pots because the bright lime green leaves make everything look instantly more vibrant. It adds that “lush garden” feel fast, even when the rest of your patio is still coming back to life.

Together, they give the perfect mix of fresh, cheerful, and low-effort, which is exactly the kind of energy I’m bringing into this season.

A Little Reminder I Didn’t Know I Needed

Resetting my patio wasn’t just about decorating or gardening.

It was a reminder that sometimes, you don’t need a huge transformation to feel better; you just need a fresh start in a small space.

A few flowers. A little greenery. A quiet moment outside after the rain.

That’s enough to make your home feel like it’s blooming again, too.

Spring Goal: Patio Oasis Energy Only

i still have a couple things left to do but, Nnow that my patio is officially open for the season, I’m leaning fully into outdoor slow mornings, cozy evenings, and making this space feel like a mini retreat.

Because if spring showers can bring May flowers… they can definitely bring a little peace too.

What’s one plant you swear by for patio spaces?

I’m always looking for more easy, pretty options to add this season.
