Easy French Toast for a Quick Treat

French Toast Story

I had only made French toast once in my life, and let’s just say… it didn’t go well. I used the wrong kind of bread, didn’t get the batter quite right, and had the pan turned up way too high. The result was a sad, burnt on the outside, soggy on the inside mess. That one experience was enough to scare me away for years. I genuinely think I traumatized myself from ever making it again.

Since then, I’ve become a much better cook. I’m comfortable experimenting, following recipes, and actually enjoying my time in the kitchen. But French toast stayed on my “nope” list. I just never felt the urge to give it another shot.

Until my 13-year-old asked, and asked again. And again.

So, I finally caved. I went straight to Google and typed in “easy French toast recipe” because I wasn’t about to freestyle this one. I found a simple recipe from McCormick, watched the video, followed it step by step, and to my surprise, it turned out delicious. Perfectly golden, lightly crisp, and exactly the comforting breakfast I always hoped French toast could be.

Moral of the story: sometimes all it takes is a reliable recipe (and a little encouragement from your kid) to rewrite a bad food memory.

I’ll share the recipe link and video below—hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
