“Food is a lot of people’s therapy - when we say comfort food, we really mean that. It’s releasing dopamine and serotonin in your brain that makes you feel good. ”
Who doesn’t like comfort food?
A nice warm bowl of mac and cheese or a delicious chicken pot pie with buttery flaky crust can be downright irresistible! As the seasons change and temperatures begin to drop, most of us start looking forward to these comfort food favorites. Colder months can take a toll on our mood, but a warm, familiar meal can lift us up, making us feel good and safe.
The holidays can add even more meaning to some of these meals. Spending time with family while we gather around our favorite comfort foods allows for these traditions to be passed down. I remember watching my mom prep all the Thanksgiving food, and the warm feeling of contentment that washed over me as we all sat at the table to eat. For this reason, Thanksgiving will always be my favorite holiday.
This week, I wanted to share one of my favorite comfort meals that is really easy to make for us moms (and dads) who are often pressed for time but still want to give our families that cozy feeling you get when you take a bite of a dish that warms your soul. Watch the video to see how to make chicken and dumplings!
